Cooperation with French University

Cooperation between the French Government and the Faculty of Science is of two types: 1) an exchange of lecturers for teaching, research and training purposes, and 2) support for higher study at the doctoral level. During the past year, activities were carried out in both areas. The Dean of the Faculty of Science visited France from 8-15 December, 1996 to sign an Agreement for Academic Exchange and Cooperation with Professor Michel Giraud, Directeur de I’ U.F.R., Sciences de la Matiere, Universite de Provence, Marseille, France. The Agreement is for an exchange of lecturers and the following activities took place in the past year:

7-18 December, 1996 Asst. Prof. Dr. Nitat Jira-Arun, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narin Sirikulrat and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Griangsak Chairote travelled to France to take part in academic discussions and cooperation in three areas namely Metallurgy, Polymer Technology and Applied Biochemistry at Universite de Provence (Aix-Marseille I).

31 March - 4 June, 1997, Ms. Suparin Chaiklangmuang went to University de Provence, Marseille, to conduct research on the topic " Plastic Waste Volorization " with Prof. Alain Perichaud.

In addition, the French Government provided scholarships to enable Mr. Sukon Prasitwattanasare and Ms. Patrinee Sasomsin of the Statistics Department to further their studies at the doctoral level in the Department of Biostatistics at Paris VII University, Paris, France.
